When you come to think of it that is the secret of most of the great holes all over the world. They all have some kind of a twist. C.B. MACDONALD
Telegraph: Rory "Ready To Defend USPGA Championship Title"
/Video: Rory Trick Shot At Whistling! (And As Close As He'll Get)
/It doesn't sound like Rory McIlroy will defend his PGA Championship title at Whistling Straits, so assuming the world's worst kickabout-erer doesn't make it to the year's final major, we at least have two reminders of his brief time in Wisconsin:
(A) The Omega ad that has inexplicably resurfaced after having been designated for shipping to hostage relief teams across the globe for flushing out barricaded suspects.
(B) His trick shot appearance at PGA Championship media day with the Bryan Brothers. This would be a great chance to merge one negative with one positive and air it as 2015's endlessly played Omega ad, minus that grating song. Wait, sorry, I forgot about the blatant Bose ad to kick things off the trick shot video. Because nothing sums up the joy of media day like giant noise-cancelling headphones!
BTW the trick shots are fun, and so are the drone views of Whistling all set to stock music known simply as What We Think The Millennials Would Download If They Paid For Music, Theme.
**Andrew Both of Reuters cites a "reliable source" saying McIlroy has a Saturday practice round scheduled for Whistling Straits.

/Stinks Getting Old: Tiger And Rory Texting Over Their Injuries
/Not too far removed from two old fogies discussing their hemorroid remedies, it seems Tiger the chiropractor is getting texts from Rory McIlroy asking for rehab advice.
From Steve DiMeglio in USA Today, reporting from St. Andrews where Tiger showed up early to do a clinic...for aspiring golfers.
"He sent me a photo the day he did it. We talked about it for a little bit," Woods told reporters from USA TODAY Sports and ESPN.com on Saturday after spending much of his day with junior golfers to kick off his preparation for the third major of the season. "He said, 'You've been through a lot of injuries over the years,' so he picked my brain a little bit. We had a good talk. He's doing the right thing, taking care of his body first before he gets back out here.”

/McIlroy Ruptures Ankle Ligaments, Open In Doubt
/New contract language phrase of the year: no kickabouts before a major.
A Sky report on Rory McIlroy rupturing his left ankle ligaments during a "kickabout" with friends over the weekend.
He's not ruling out The Open at St. Andrews.
**Tim Rosaforte reports on Rory McIlroy's left ankle injury, saying the injury happened on a synthetic field on Bangor Island, and occurred when McIlroy was running. He did not go to kick the ball, lose his footing and go down in embarrassing fashion, according this management team.
And we talked about the news as it relates to The Open, which I would still agree is devastating for what was lining up as a showdown between worlds No. 1 and 2.
**From Steve DiMeglio's story on the sprain.
In his post, McIlroy referred to his ATFL (anterior talofibular ligament), one of three ligaments around the ankle. Dr. James Gladstone, co-chief of sports medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, said the rupture isn't in and of itself "a big deal."
"It isn't career threatening or necessarily time threatening. You could have a sprain and within two weeks be going strong," Gladstone said. "At other times it could ultimately require surgery. Typically most people who sprain their ankles don't need surgery. Only if people suffer recurring sprains would surgery be required."
Gladstone said the typical treatments include rest, ice and anti-inflammatory treatment.
