PGA Tour House Organ Fights Back At Fleeing Euros!

Sadly, you can imagine how this one went down: PGA TOUR Senior EVP of News Intermediation And Rebranding sees a flurry of reports that Euros are passing up tour cards because of the FedExCup, calls over to the PGATour.com offices and demands a story putting some form of spin on the news.

As if this unbylined item will fool unsuspecting television network execs who are probably wondering about the whole FedExCup thing:

Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy have decided against taking up membership on the PGA TOUR in 2011. On the other hand, PGA champ Martin Kaymer remains undecided and Graeme McDowell is expected to keep his card after joining in the wake of his U.S. Open win.

Regardless of their individual decisions, though, the four -- all of whom rank among the top 10 in the world -- will be seen playing frequently in the United States next year.

McIlroy, who turned 21 in May, announced his decision to focus on the European Tour on Sunday after the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions in China. He misses the camaraderie in Europe, as well as his family and long-time girlfriend.

Well that wasn't all he said...
