Report: Pavin Will Pick Woods No Matter How Matter How Desperately Tiger Wants To Sit This One Out**
/John Hawkins writing for GolfChannel.com tells us Jim Gray received this news from Corey Pavin in the Whistling Straits clubhouse. No word on which urinals they were standing at. Or maybe it was the buffet line?
“Of course I’m going to [pick him]. He’s the best player in the world,” Pavin told Gray Tuesday in the Whistling Straits clubhouse.
Does this mean Pavin will pick up the possible UK tax tab if Tiger actually doesn't want to play? Or have they already worked that out now that Tiger is saying he'll go if selected, as Bob Harig explains.
Does this mean the PGA's Julius Mason is out shopping for muzzles in the greater Sheboygan area tonight so that he can have some reason for media to show up at the stock exchange for the captain's pick news conference September 7th?
**Larry Dorman calls Tiger's comments today a 360-degree turn:
Last Sunday, after the worst performance of his career at Firestone Country Club, where has won seven times, Woods said he would not want to be a captain’s pick if his game did not improve drastically.
Tuesday’s 360-degree turn came with a simple, “Yes,” when asked if he would accept a captain’s pick for the United States squad at Celtic Manor in Wales. Woods said he had not spoken with the American captain, Corey Pavin, and that he hoped he would not have to because, “I would like to be able to play myself onto that team.”
