Galea Pleads Guilty; Attorney Says Tiger Did Not Get HGH
/Phil Fairbanks of the Buffalo News leads with the Tiger component of Dr. Anthony Galea's plea deal.
Paul J. Campana, assistant U.S. attorney, told Judge Richard J. Arcara today that Galea's patients included Tiger Woods, Takeo Spikes, Jamal Lewis and several other professional athletes. Campana did not specify what treatments those athletes received from Galea.
"Not every athlete got every treatment; some got one treatment and not the other," Campana said.
Campana told the judge Galea offered four types of treatment to injured patients.
Brian Greenspan, a Canadian attorney for Galea, later confirmed that Woods received treatment from Galea but that it was plasma-rich platelet treatment and did not involve human growth hormone.
"He did not receive Nutropin [a form of HGH]," Greenspan said. "In fairness to Tiger Woods, he received only one of the four treatments."
