One More Portrush Review Includes A Staggering Profit Number

Reading Brian Keogh's excellent review of the Royal Portrush experiment, it sure sounds like the European Tour operations people outdid themselves and solidified the course's chances of hosting future Irish Opens, and maybe even The Open.

Netting a €1m profit is one thing, but to get European Tour chief George "I really do have a pulse" O’Grady raving about the week this way is rather amazing.

O’Grady said: “The R&A would have to notice it. We could have stopped the gate a bit higher. We could have transported more people and parked more people and more people could have seen.

“I walked 16 holes and if I had paid money to come in, I wouldn’t have begrudged my fee. There was a great ambience.”
