Australian Story: Greg Norman Talking About Himself (Plenty)
/ABC1's vaunted "Australian Story" series took on Greg Norman and while it does come off as a bit of an infomercial initially, there's enough fun stuff to come out to make this worth viewing if you are a Sharkofile and have nothing else to do Tuesday.
This Sunday Telegraph story highlights the break-up with Chrissy.
While Norman is reticent to throw too much shade in Evert's direction (he does admit to a "personality clash"), his sister Janis pitched in her 10 cents worth in what is an eye-opening interview.
Describing her response when her brother informed her that he and Evert were splitting (which was, to quote verbatim; "Hallelujah"), Janis says she felt the union was doomed from the wedding day.
"(My husband) Jimmy said when we were at the wedding, 'I'll give it two years but it didn't even last two years," Janis says in the interview.
"It lasted 18 months then Jimmy won all the bets."
She claims it was Chris Evert's reluctance to embrace Norman's family that caused the major cracks.
"There was no warmth with Chrissie. And when they'd come over here for holidays, we'd go and have dinner with them and one night she just got up from the dinner table and went and laid on the couch and watched TV with her boys and left all of us sitting there going, 'hang on a minute. This is a family, you're his wife, be part of the family' and I just thought that was really sad that she just didn't try to embrace us as a family."
So Aussies, how did this edition of Australian Story stack up with past efforts?
