/Will Gray on one of the great stories this week: geezer Kenny Perry making the cut at Pinehurst and holing an extraordinary shot after the round. Perry said the day was one of the most demanding he'd ever experienced in a major.
“I thought it was going to go over the green and then all of a sudden people started jumping up in the air,” Perry said. “That’s the longest shot I’ve ever made in my life, period.”
But there was this 220-yard hybrid on 14, one of the few roars of the day:
